Day 41 of 365 day poem challenge.
Word of the day beguile meaning: "charm or enchant (someone), often in a deceptive way."
Morning Crumbs
It was in the crumbs of morning
When his rats invisible to the naked eye scurried out
Beguiled by his resemblance to a couch
Stuck polyester going nowhere
It was in the fetid swamp stink
Of pyjamas and the bland
Whiteness of morning sheets
Tickled with black felt hairs
It was in the undulating waves of his used doonah
It was in the stale contrast of the shelves and the lamp emitting
Some colour
It was in the crusty morning eyes
That leave crumbs on the pillow
For those rats invisible and gnawing up from the lower intestines
That leave heavy bags under his eyes
